Asking for a Friend

  Because the Bible I read says this in Matthew 10, verse 32. Jesus calls us to acknowledge him before others. And he warns that whoever denies the son before others will be denied before his father in heaven. I don't want to run that risk. Can I follow Jesus Christ without letting the world know I follow Christ? I don't want to deny Jesus in front of the world.

You know, when you think about it, Jesus himself really started the Pay It Forward initiative 2,000 years ago. In Matthew 10, verse 8, we read where Jesus has assembled a team of guys. He gets these 12 guys together, and I know Alabama's football country, and this is the end of football season.

  This is what Matthew 10, 23, 32. Matthew 10, 32 through 33 says. So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before men, I will also deny before my Father in heaven. Our salvation, ladies and gentlemen, calls for an open stand for Christ, whatever the cost. Whatever the cost. To be a secret disciple of Christ is an impossible thing.

  But we're quick to be silent when Paul says, but I have served. That way some might be saved. Who are you serving? Jesus is our model, and he is a model servant. This is why Christ, in Matthew 10, verse 45, Jesus says, Are we modeling the servanthood of our Savior? So I ask you this year, are you ready to serve?

  We say, well, where do you find that? Matthew 10. This is the words of Jesus again. He says this. Do not fear those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. So I love, I love what Paul says to, to die is gain, to live is Christ. So as Christians, if someone has a gun to me, or if Satan says, if you, if you tell the name of Jesus Christ, we will kill you, we can look at them and say, go ahead, you're doing me a favor.
