  Think about this, church. It was Aaron and Hur who lifted the arms of Moses when they battled the enemies of the Lord. We need each other. Why? Because what is better? Two or one? Two. This is Solomon's way of saying we need each other deeply. Exodus 17 reminds us of that. Where would Israel have been if Moses was by himself?

  That's the people that, Esther chapter 3, that's Haman's kinfolks. Exodus chapter 17. You might remember that Saul had defeated the Amalekites and God told him to exterminate King Agag. And Saul refused to do what was good in the eyes of the Lord. Saul refused. Samuel actually completed the act. That's the same family line.

  Moses was to do what to the rock? Speak to the rock. Now, in Moses' defense, there's already been an episode in Exodus 17 that the people were thirsty and they needed water and God said, if you take your staff and you hit the rock, water will come out. So Moses is thinking, hey, not my first time around the block. But that's not what God said. God told him in this instant to speak to the rock.
