excellent thank you thank you greg thank you so much praise team singers and choir my goodness fantastic as for me and my house we will serve the lord should be a declaration of every christ follower in this room today if you're not a christ follower it's hard to make that0:26declaration but if you're a christ follower and you have an opportunity to serve the lord and have your family serve the lord i don't want to kick that over that's why i'm moving it we should make the declaration that we will serve the lord if you brought your bible hope you did turn with me to ephesians chapter 6 i want us to as you're turning in your scriptures i want us to imagine that we are going to build a bridge on this platform students we're going to put all the parents over on this0:54side meemaws pawpaws and parents all over on this side and all the students are going to be on this side teenagers all the teenagers and children on this side if we were going to build a river a build a river we were going to build a bridge across a river would we start in the center of the river and build to the outer banks no we would start on the outer banks and build towards the center1:22and so today that's going to be the goal over the next couple of hours as we unpack god's word i want to see if you are staying awake with me nobody said amen to that so they're about to leave folding up their stuff brad don't lock the doors but anyway we want to build a bridge to each other and it starts with making a decision a decision ephesians chapter 6 beginning with the first verse1:46through the third verse now students your part is going to be first kids parts first and then the parents section there's two sections to this sermon several years ago i wrote a a a youth event a weekend disciple now weekend material it's called parents what in the world we're going to do with them and so i've kind of adapted from that so i'm taking a a five session disciple now weekend curriculum2:12and i have shrunk it down to one sermon i'm going to hit the high points and drive home some scripture points for us to consider and that we can consider today that we have got to build these incredible bridges to each other these is chapter 6 verses 1 2 and 3 children obey your parents in the lord for this is right honor your father and your mother which is the first commandment with a promise2:38that it may be well with you and that you may live long on earth now i want you to grasp the hold of those three verses of scripture because this is not a if you decide to this is not if you want to this is a command from god the apostle paul writing to the church at ephesus he is also sharing with this great church that there are some needs for us to address this area of family life children obey your parents3:06in the lord don't just i think you should when you feel up to it i tell teenagers this all the time you got a problem with this take it up with god not me and your parents we're just the messengers this is what god's word has to say children obey your parents in the lord for this is right honor your father and your mother which is the first commandment with the promise that it may be well3:35with you and that you may live long on earth the message truth is this nothing will greatly affect your walk your what your life with christ more than a great relationship with your parents you cannot be rightly related to christ or with christ without a great relationship a great working relationship with your parents now time out i know what some of you highly conservative bible thumpers are going to be saying in this room wait a minute what if my this teenager is in a home where the parents are not4:04christ followers it does not give us a differentiate it does not say that you can't it says children obey your parent it doesn't say obey your parents if they're christians it says honor your father and mother no matter what it doesn't give a stipulation that you don't have to honor them if you're there are christ followers now not uh parents don't swell up because i'm gonna smack you around a little bit as well in4:33just a second so buckle up it says honor obey your parents you cannot be rightly related with christ left with with christ without a great relationship with your parents now i want to give you the teenager side and parents you can fill in the blanks as well but i think there's some building blocks for us to building these relationships to our parents the first principle for you to fill the blank in a lot of filling the blank so get it out let's start writing some notes out your relationship with your parents will greatly affect5:03your relationship with christ your relationship with your parents will greatly affect your relationship with god i want you to turn with me to romans romans chapter 12 or romans chapter 13 romans chapter 13 so you're going to need to keep your bibles open and we're going to be flipping through pages a lot so romans chapter 13 verse 1 listen to what it says not my words god's word here it is5:26let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities for there is no authority except from god those which exist are established by god therefore he he who resists authority has opposed the ordinance of god that and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves not my words god's word through the elimination of the holy spirit to the apostle paul writing to the church at rome5:53he says let let let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities but there is no authority there is no authority except from god and those which exist are established by god now here's the building block number one your relationship with your parents will greatly affect your relationship with god you see i'm telling you that every one of us are subject to the governing authorities and those governing authorities are established by god the governing authorities let me ask you this question6:23i don't want you to answer it out loud but answer it in your heart if you're driving 80 miles an hour down 4 11. should you receive a ticket if you get caught yes first of all we need to have your brain checked driving 80 miles an hour on two lane highway like that if you run the red light at moody should you get a ticket the answer is yes why because we have governing laws and authority figures in our lives that we6:50should honor sometimes we don't honor our parents like we should students now i'm saying something that i'm looking in the mirror i'm looking back date bay way back in time i did not always honor my parents but i knew that i was supposed to and so i strive to do that i did the best i could i made mistakes why7:14because i am a sinful person just like you are but the bible says honor your father and children obey your parents nothing will greatly affect your relationship with your parents then your relationship with god your relationship with god depends how good it is depends on your relationship with your parents turn with me to proverbs chapter 17 proverbs chapter 17 beginning with the uh the 11th verse7:40proverbs chapter 17 the 11th verse a rebellious man seeks only evil so a cruel messenger will be sent against him a rebellious person always looks for the evil way out proverbs chapter 3 bracket that over a couple of pages proverbs chapter 3 beginning with the first verse to the 12th verse i'm going to read every one of them this is an entire sermon in and of itself but i want you to break this out with8:07me for a second the proverbs chapter 3 verse 1 my son do not forget my teaching but let your heart keep my commandments for lengthen days and years of life and peace will be added unto you do not let kindness or truth leave you bind them around your neck write them on the tablet of your heart so you'll find favor and good repute in the sight of god and man now here's five and six if we had a testimonial service meemaw would stand up and say this is my favorite verse right here trust the lord with all your heart do not lean on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge8:37him and he will make your paths straight do not be wise do not be wise in your own eyes fear the lord and turn away from evil it'll be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones coming up in a few weeks we're going to talk about stewardship here's where it says honor the lord from your wealth and from the first of your produce let me go ahead and give you a little subplot here so you can be thinking about this it does not say honor the lord and give your second best does it not this is honor the lord9:05with your from your wealth and from the first of all your produce so your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats overflow with new wine now here it is verse 11 my son do not reject the discipline of the lord or loathe his reproof for whom the lord loves he reproves even as the father in the son in whom he delights your relationship with your parents greatly affect your relationship with god listen to me9:32i did not like proverbs chapter 3 verses 11 and 12 i just didn't like it it says my son do not reject the discipline of the lord or loathe his reproof for whom the lord loves he reproves as the father and the son whom he delights i grew up in an environment in a home with a strict disciplinarian my dad loved us9:56unconditionally provided for us amazingly he was a great leader in the church but he said i believe the bible is quite clear about raising kids spare the rod spoil the child my dad says we're not going to have any spoiled kids in our house now my dad did not beat us but he did not he was not10:19afraid to use a little force to get our attention occasionally he didn't beat us he came awfully close a couple of times i remember one time my dad said you know what this was the dumbest thing i've ever heard him say but he said it this is going to hurt me more than it's going to hurt you i wanted to say pat hand give me that uh belt there buddy how about you lean it over and let me give you a whack or two on this10:49thing huh right no you see we need to be disciplined correct now some people have unique discipline styles and they they like this timeout thing it never worked with us it never worked timeout didn't work at our house didn't work with us raising seth either a good whack on the bottom everything's good i think if if we put the board of education back in the classroom and take it out of that building that11:16we have down in the city hall area it would be a whole lot better and all the teachers are saying amen to that huh you see i think your relationship with your parents students will greatly affect your walk with god a good relationship with god a good relationship with your parents and you will have a great building block principle there the second principle is is that no one can solve a problem unless they want to solve a problem you've got to decide hey i'm part of the problem and parents say11:43i'm part of the problem and you got to come to a resolution you got to come to a situation matthew 5 verse 9 says you must decide to become a peacemaker blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the what sons of god your relationship with your parents will greatly affect your relationship with god no one can solve a problem unless they want to solve a problem that they're and when we're12:10solving a problem we got to realize that our parents students guess what our parents have some weak areas in their life they've got some situations going on it does not justify your rebellion towards them so that principle in that subplot there says you cannot let your parents weaknesses justify your rebellion towards them you remember matthew 7 matthew 7 says don't look in that brother's eye12:35for that for that that plank and when you that speck in his eye when there's a plank in king james version sticking out of yours what we want to do is we want to look at the smallest detailed issue in our parents life when we got these planks sticking out of our own eyes you cannot let your parents weaknesses justify your rebellion rebellion towards them you must be willing to become open you must be13:01willing to become open and thirdly you must be willing to face the injustices of life years ago early days of ministry i had the privilege of serving on a church staff as the associate pastor for students janitorial services lawn care and anything deemed the pastor wanted me to do13:24i was thrilled to death to be serving on this church i went to this church in hartsville alabama we got there to this this church they had eight students there eight eight on roll eight coming on sunday mornings eight on wednesday nights it was back in the day when the youth ministry explosion was taking place and the big wednesday night event was the thing and you know where we had and so i said you13:51know what they're not coming here brad and i did the thing i didn't know anything about student ministry so what i did they're not coming to me i'm going to go to them so i started hanging out at the school and going to there and i talked to some other youth guys and they said oh yeah you got to get into school got to be in their lives got to see you in school if they see you they don't care how much you know to know how much you cared all the whole you know had all the language and stuff to say it so i went to this school and i started inviting their these teenagers at this particular 5a school to come14:15to our wednesday night now our wednesday night thing we didn't have this cool room like brad's god is all the lights and the band and you know the stuff and i mean it's a great that loft is awesome man if you're not coming on wednesday night students shame on you you've got this stuff got a great teaching pastor there and so we had this old house that the church rented it was right next to the worship center and it was an old house it should have been condemned i mean this place was14:41awful it was nasty and so i went into this place brad and so with my wife and i said you know what we got to make this thing look like students and so we didn't ever took paints buckets and just splashed well it was tied out everywhere it looked like the grateful dead lived there or something i don't know man it was awful looking you know it was our room and i had this little stage scott about this big and i had this old girl that could play three or four chords on a keyboard so we bought her a little15:07keyboard and she would play and then she just bang out these three or four chords and we'd sing a few songs and then i'd get up and teach so i started inviting these kids to come eight went to 20 when i left we had about 90 kids come and they were all over we were feeding them hot dogs and stuff you know and anything we could do just to get them to come we gave them popcorn putt-putt pizza i mean anything we could do man we'd get them to come because if we got them around the truth maybe god could change their15:35heart let's just one kid that shows up i'm gonna change her name to protect her name's marcy marcy came she would stand way back in the back and my wife would see her so my wife would run back and say marcy come on up damn dan's been waiting for you to come she said i'm fine right here so she would stand back there and finally i just couldn't take it any longer after several weeks of marcy standing way back in the back and as soon as amen was over she was gone so i went to see marcy16:04deb and i did and we found out that she was in a terrible environment at home her dad was abusive to her mom her mom cussed her out they both were alcoholics and drug addicts and it was just an abusive situation and we began to love marcy and we began to tell marcy marcy we just love you so much but god loves you even more you got a face and judge he said how can a loving and just god love me16:29and love the environment that i am why am i stuck in this situation and i said marcy because god has a plan and purpose for your life and i took her to romans 8 god causes all things to work together for good to those who love god and to those who are called according to the purpose and marcy i believe beyond a shadow of doubt if you surrendered your life to jesus christ he would put a hedge of protection around you he would gird you up he would strengthen you and he would place you on mission inside that home16:57and marcy's lights turned on and we had some other women in our church that became loving on marcy and i got a phone call one night late one night it was marcy she was at the hospital at the emergency room he said it blew up at our house tonight my dad beat my mom and she's unconscious and my dad's in jail and i have no place to go17:24and deb and myself and the pastor and his wife and some others went down and started loving on marcy marcy went into a care facility and i left the church shortly after that we moved to birmingham and began a travel ministry a few years ago i was invited to speak at a church up in tennessee17:53it was a sunday morning event i'm up preaching and this place is filled about a thousand people in this room and and after it's over this young lady after services starts walking towards and deb was with me at this event and she's walking towards me brad and she was i kind of like wow i know who is that i know this girl and she said you don't remember me i said and debbie said marcy she said yes she said hey i want you to meet my husband he's a deacon chair here at the church18:21hey here's my two kids i want you to meet them thank you for loving me and telling me that i have to face the injustices because we have ministry in this community now folks let me tell you something the students gather in here close you must be willing to stand firm and face the injustices no matter how bad they are it doesn't say that you cannot obey your parents if you're in an abusive situation18:50let us know there are ways out of that abusive situation but you cannot you cannot let the just because some injustices are coming your way lead you towards rebellion to your parents your relationship with your parents will greatly affect your relationship with god no one can solve a problem thirdly you must learn how to be open with your19:19parents children obey your parents in the lord for this is right honor your father and your mother which is the first commandment with a promise that you may live be well with you and that you may live long on earth now students let me tell you something about parents and you have it in you it's just not been activated yet parents have the ability to perceive events people and places that can harm you we have19:47a radar detecting device that god instilled a chip inside our lives that we know people places and things that can harm you it's already there yours until you have a child it doesn't get activated but when you have a child it's immediate now every parent in this room if they're worth being a parent20:14every parent in this room would not let their child play on interstate 59 wouldn't let them stay right there say well going out there and play that's a good place to play we have the ability to perceive events people and places we also have the ability to read into that person that might not be the right person for you to be hanging with you say oh they just don't like my guy well if he comes in there and he's you know20:42he's got that look we know young lady that he has got the wrong look amen and if she's not the right person for you dude you shouldn't be hanging with her parents have the ability to perceive events people and places that will harm you honor your father and your mother it is the first commandment21:05with a promise that it may that you may live long on earth number four we're building that bridge we're getting to the center you must be willing to look at the world from your parents point of view students children listen to me in this room parents have an enormous amount of pressure on them back in21:29the day when mom was a stay-at-home most moms were stay-at-home at that time the pressures were there but they weren't that great the pressures to succeed and the pressures financially the pressures are amazing for them turn with me to philippians chapter philippians chapter 2 i want you to look what paul writes to21:56the church at philippi philippians chapter 2 we must start looking at life from our parents point of view philippians chapter 2 verses 3 and 4 listen to what the word of god says philippians chapter 2 do not do nothing from selfish or empty conceit but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself do not merely look out for your own personal interests but also the interest of others22:21have this attitude in yourself which was also in christ jesus you see if christ is in you the hope of glory if christ it dwells in you you must have this same attitude you must not look from selfish or empty conceit but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself we must look at the world from your parents point of view now here's some steps and i've already filled22:50in the blanks for you seek your parents forgiveness if you haven't lately go up and ask your parents for forgiveness secondly cooperate with your parents if they tell you to do something do it i mean do it on the first time they ask you to do something if they're simply saying please take your nasty stinking clothes to the laundry room why would you look at them like a calf at a new gate23:18i mean they're not going to get washed until they get into the laundry room right if they ask you to do something just do it secondly thirdly tell your parents to love them now let me caution you something students this is one that i hear a lot i love my mom and dad mom and dad i love you hand me twenty dollars no no tell them you love them regardless thank them for all you do23:43thank them for all they do for you go in there tell your mom i sure appreciate the collard greens we had last night they were phenomenal i'm just telling you you we've got to start thinking they sacrifice day in and day out for your well-being we need to thank them for all they do avoid raising your voice to your24:06parents now listen to me students you cannot out shout your parents if you're raising your voice to your parents that's ungodly you can't out shout them they have a larger voice and you say well no i've got a strong voice i can out shout them they can turn down the screws so tight you can't even move24:33take your keys away from you take your ipad away from you take your iphone away from you take your computer they can shut your world down whether you like it or not and for you to raise your voice to them is absolutely ungodly so avoid raising if they raise your voice calmly start talking slower and calmly lower your voice thirdly fit sixly excuse me six let god change your parents mind that's his job25:00not yours let god change your parents that's his job not yours quit trying to be god you pray get right with god and ask god to change their heart and god will do it in his divine plan and will and finally my favorite astound your parents by the over obedient method you said now wait a minute25:29what's that mean if your parents students gathered here close i won't don't forget that i don't you miss this if your parents tell you i need for you to take the dishes the clean dishes out of the dishwasher or i need for you to to clean the table off i need whatever they say i need for you to clean the house help me clean the house this week astounding by the over immediate method is take it one step further oh25:56great i will can i mow the lawn as well26:09i need for you to take the clothes out of the dryer and fold them yes can i clean the house this week as well you say man that's crazy he said no way i don't know whose kid that is but anyway it's right here blue shirt anyway spare the rods for the child there he is right there right let me tell you something students gather in here close i had a teenager come up to me at a conference that i was teaching these26:37principles at came up to me said that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard in my life i said good go home and have the horrible lifestyle you got at your home that's what i wanted to say but i didn't i was nice i was a guest but i'm going to try it she said she went home her mom said i want you to unload the dishwasher tonight she said excellent mom can i help you vacuum and make the beds this week her mom sent me an email said i think my child is on drugs27:06but you know we tracked that family for a while and there was a healthy relationship building in that area you see we've built all these blocks building these relationships trying to get to center crossing that river and we're right here several years ago when i was teaching this conference my wife came to me she said you're leaving one side of the equation out dan27:36wives have an ability to share those truths with you as husbands don't they i said yes what is it she said you need to talk to the parents i said what would i do she said what would i tell the parents she said i don't know we're we're parents we ought to be able to figure this out so we began to write some thoughts down together and we came up with two major building blocks to build the bridge28:00and so here's some steps for parents that we have found it's not an exhaustive list but it's two foundational truths that we found that worked building in our home ephesians chapter 6 verse 4 it goes on to say and fathers do not provoke your children to anger but build them up in the in the28:26discipline and instruction on the lord do not provoke your children to anger colossians 3 verse 21 fathers do not exasperate your children that they will lose heart we have ability sometimes with our strong voices as parents to verbally beat our kids down if that's being the case parents confess your sin please28:55and surrender your life to the lord our students are incredibly smart this generation that's coming up the millennials even the high schoolers that are coming up that will will give them a title at some point the millennials are some of the smartest gifted29:23articulate i mean they get it they're value driven if it has value they're going to be involved in it if it doesn't they're not connected to it they're not connecting to the past they're going to connect to the future and we need as parents we need to drive home the strong pillar of listening to our children29:42listen to our children we need to love them unconditionally we need to involve them into our lives my dad was a power company employee for 40 years i did not realize this until about 10 5 6 years ago when i started listening to my son and and i was30:08involving him into my work and and my dad used to do the same thing you know when he'd come home from work sometimes he would say hey let me tell you about my day now when i was a teenager i didn't really care how the electricity got into the house as a power company employee i didn't need to know all the kilowatts and all this generating and how that all happened all i wanted to know is if i went to that30:33switch on the wall and hit it up that the light came on that's about all i cared about electricity dad but he would talk to me about what was going on he was involving me in his life so that i would involve him in mine we need to love our curling unconditionally we need to involve them in our life we need to stay the course when we say we're going to do something don't waffle stick it out and stay31:03the course we need to train them up in the lord if you're a christ follower parent in this room today the most important thing you do with your kid is infuse the word of god into their life train them up i don't know where we went wrong thinking that our youth pastor and our children's31:30pastor and our senior pastor and our discipleship pastor was supposed to raise your kid you had them your responsibility we're going to equip them the best we can but you spend more than time with them than we do we get them a couple of hours a week we're going to celebrate jesus with them and infuse the31:58word into their lives and challenge them and mentor them but folks let me tell you something it is the responsibility dads listen up it is a responsibility of godly fathers to raise your children in the lord listen to them they are begging for us to stay the course they're begging us they're begging us to train them up we need to encourage them to have a time alone32:28with god as well let me tell you something we encourage them all they want to but if we're not having one don't be a hypocrite they'll read through it like the sunday newspaper so we need to encourage them listen to them love them unconditionally involve them in our lives stay the course train them up encourage them and never ever ever32:57push the envelope so far that you provoke them to anger if you push your kid to an anger state you are just as guilty of ungodliness as they are being disrespectful and disloyal to you listen to your children third secondly create balance in your home33:22my head hurts to hear some of the schedules some of the parents deal with today i mean my head hurts i run a non-profit organization i don't have a big staff it's me deb and we got seth does some contract work we have some contractual labor work for us down in central america and but my head hurts of all the things33:47that the chasing your kid to vicariously living through your kid thinking that possibly if we get them at seven years old they're going to get that scholarship playing some sport they may they might be but let's let them be kids and sometimes we are so inundated with keeping this movement going all the time we need to create34:14balance in the home have some e-breaks have some no sports weekend breaks just hang out boy the kids are fired up about that i want to hang out with my parents this weekend no they don't but if we shut down some of the schedule and say you know what we're going to balance this thing out a little bit34:41i know there's a lot of travel ball people in this world we did that for about one time and we realized no way we're not going to let sports dictate everything in our lives i got a fairly healthy kid right now and we hadn't been the best parents in the world35:11but we did our best to keep balance inside the home listen to your parents create balance within your home i started thinking about this this week parents when they when we had these knuckleheads called children from about age one till about 10 11 12 we were like cops35:36don't stop don't touch come here hold my hand were we not we were just policing them the whole time weren't we we got don't don't don't don't don't that's hot don't do that don't run out in front of the cars get out of the middle of interstate 59 you can't play out there we're copying them the whole time right36:01from about 12 till about age 18 we're coaching them up okay here's what you need to do you need to align yourself up with your grade stuff you need coaching them up the whole time here's how you need to dress here's how you need to act coaching them up and from 18 on we become counselor36:28we cop at early stage we coach in their high school informative days and when they go off to college we become the counselor before my dad passed away i came up with those three c's and i i bounced that off i said hey dad uh when did this counseling thing end he looked at me he said you're sitting in my room36:58i said you don't counsel me he said then leave37:12it never stops does it ephesians chapter 6 is so full those first four verses if we rivet those into our souls we can build enormous balance in our lives children obey your parents in the lord for this is right honor your father and your mother which is the first commandment with a promise that it may be well with you and that you may live long on earth and fathers do not provoke your children to anger bring them up in the discipline and instruction37:42on the lord deb and i are movie crazies we love movies it's getting more difficult every day to find something decent to go to but we love movies my wife is a movie nut she loves it my favorite one of my favorite movies of all time and still is is a movie called apollo 1338:10apollo 13 i i love the space thing i loved all that that's just so cool and as some of y'all you know you lived up in the north alabama area and so you know we're talking about huntsville's or a space and rocket center and my uncle was on on the uh gemini team at nasa and then worked on the apollo team that designed the 13-inch nose cone that went on the apollo rocket to the saturn rocket that went to38:36the moon and you know the apollo crew apollo 13 was that successful disaster is when they were going to a moon launch and they were going to drop in and jim lovell was the the commander of apollo 13 and and so he he was going to take them and they were going to drop in on the moon and they were going to pick up some stuff and do some studies and all that kind of stuff and then get back in the thing and so they were going to fly back home and it's a it's a bigger deal than that but you know the story how it went a great movie tom hanks39:06played that part he did a great job one of great actors and and apollo 13 was they they get halfway there and they they do what they call the the oxygen stir they got to stir the oxygen tank so the carbon dioxide poison inside the capsule inside the command module will not just you know put them to sleep you know and so they have to stir the oxygen tanks and there's some kind of filtering issue in there that's busted up or something something's wrong and the wire snaps and and and39:32starts a little fire and then all of a sudden there's this huge explosion they simply are doing a procedure that they've done time and time and time and time again and they stir the tanks and there's this huge explosion blows half the command module away and so they're trying to figure out oh my goodness gracious everything's starting to shut down what are we going to do so they go over to the lunar module that's the lamp the limb the thing they're going to land on the moon and so they make40:00that kind of a lifeboat and so they go over there they shut all the computer goddesses and all that stuff down in the command module they shut all that stuff down and they go over to the limb and they lock themselves into that thing for and they're going to do a a trajectory launch around the moon's atmosphere and then it'll send them back on a trajectory back down to earth so that's what they do and it gets cold you remember the story that they get sick and it's oh it's all it's awful and then40:29all of a sudden they say you know uh you're off course a little bit and we're going to have to do a burn that means we're going to have to fire the engines up and get you back on course so that you don't skip off earth atmosphere or go underneath it and you're lost for all of eternity out there and so you remember the story they said well how are we going to do that well we'll turn turn up no we can't use the amps we need that to to launch the uh parachute when you start to land in the ocean so40:55we need all the amps to ramp up the computer system when we need it the most so you're going to have to do this burn and it's going to have to be the lunar engines that's never been done before we have to do this burn and you have to do it without the guidance system and without the computer and you're going to have to do it blind now here they are out in space in a machine that's41:20never done this and they decide okay here's how we're going to do this these brilliant astronauts decide okay what we'll do we'll do a 10 second burn on the engines and i will try to keep earth in the window so level he gets the the crosshairs and he takes it down into the window and he keeps his out of the cross he puts earth in the crosshairs and he says you count it down and the moment of41:46this movie was so staggered out i watched it this week just just to get all back in my mind again and he said they count it down and they do the countdown and they burn he's fighting this thing all over it's out of the window in the window out of the window in the window and all of a sudden they shut it down and earth is in the window i was thinking today as we build these bridge blocks and we get here for our students and we do all this bridge pylons and blocks and all this stuff42:16and we get right here and we connect these two what connect shows as christ followers we got to keep cross hair the cross of jesus christ in the window the cross of our savior in the window it's gonna be tough students it's gonna be tough parents but if we keep our42:46eyes fixed upon jesus the author perfecter of our faith who for the joy set before him endured the cross despising the shame and is sat down at the right hand of the throne of god so consider him who has endured such hostility by sinners against himself so that we may not grow weary and lose heart we must keep our eyes fixed on jesus43:13let's pray with heads bowed and eyes closed as we finish and wrap up our desperate household series i'm going to invite some of the deacons to come and just be here at the front because i believe there's some family members i believe there's some husbands and wives i believe43:42there's some students in this room i believe there are some family members in this room that need to unite together and come to this altar and say you know we got it good but we want it better we got some issues but we're going to work on it i'm not perfect neither you but we're going to work on it as a family and so with heads bowed and eyes closed in this room she's going to begin to play softly in this room if you're here today and god has spoken to your heart today maybe you're not even a member of44:11this congregation but you're here today and god's spoken to your heart and you want to have that unit you want to have that relationship you as a student maybe your parent doesn't even come here not even going to worship maybe you're a parent and your kid is wayward right now maybe you just need to come to this altar and these spiritual leaders to pray over you would you be courageous enough to stand up and say pastor today44:41i come completely surrender to him father god i pray that you give them courage to stand up and step out maybe students and adults in this room today need to get together maybe a student needs to be the the first one to step out and walk over to a parent and say come and just pray with me if that be the case god give them courage to stand up and step out god let them be45:08the first one out maybe there's a dad in this room that's never prayed over their child but they'll come to this altar and just quietly hold them by the hand and let your spirit just indwell in their lives give them courage father god we ask you right now rip any barrier down standing away from you doing your work in this place we give you all
