  Romans 9, if you have your Bibles with you. Paul is writing to a growing local church in the world's greatest city at that time. City of Rome. The world's the greatest city and the greatest empire. And in Rome, we have Orthodox Jews who have come to faith in Jesus Christ. They have been waiting for the Messiah. And they have heard that Messiah was born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth, crucified in Jerusalem, and he rose again.

Hidden Revealed

  So Revelation is picking up on this clearly image of Israel. It's the same language used in Genesis for the people of God. So the woman represents the people of God, the faithful Israel. Because Romans 9 says that not all by birth are spiritual Israel. Israel represents what was always true. Those by faith in the covenant God are true Israel.

Isaiah

  but he's not Abraham. That's what Israel was counting on. Look, Isaiah, we know that Jacob is ours. We know that Joseph and Moses, they are ours. We know that Abraham is ours. And we will point to the faith of the patriarchs that we have now just assumed. And Paul in Romans says it doesn't work like that. Paul says this in Romans 9, 6. Now it is not as though the word of God has failed because not all who are descendant
