Asking for a Friend

  Jesus pronounced judgment on religious pride in Matthew 23. If you remember in John 2, Jesus even overturned tables in the temple courts. Jesus understood the dilemma. And yet, this same Messiah, who overturned tables, promised in Matthew 16, he said this. Upon this rock, this testimony that I am the resurrection and the life, that he is the Messiah. Jesus says, upon this rock, I will build my church.
