  So I have the opportunity to preach for us as we begin our journey into the final eight chapters in the book of Matthew. Today we're going to be in Matthew chapter 21. Would love for you to get a Bible and turn there with me if you have that ability. And what you'll see today is that we have a pivotal chapter in Matthew's gospel. Jesus is entering Jerusalem for the final week of his life.

  His resurrection is the foundation for why we meet in this room today. The foundation of why we sing, why we preach, and why we open up the Bible. So today, in light of his resurrection that is coming, before we get there, we're in Matthew chapter 21. And we're going to see two major scenes unfold here. And I believe that these scenes are pointing us to the reality of who Jesus really is and why

Matthew wants to let in our minds linger this idea that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of David's throne forever. So if you hear nothing else in Matthew, listen to this. In Jesus, your promised king has come.

  So now we're going to turn to Matthew 21. Matthew 21. Now we skipped all of Jesus' life. I get that. And Matthew 21 describes the scene. And it reminds us that Jesus is the king we so desperately need in our lives. Verse 1 of Matthew 21. When they approached Jerusalem, they came to Bethphage at the Mount of Olives.
