But it was the gospel. It was glory. It was for you and for me. Don't miss the glimpse of glory in the crown of thorns. There's a second glimpse I want us to see. Not only the crown, but the robe. It points us forward, this purple robe. Mark 10, 34. And also Luke 18, which we have read earlier, says this, that they will mock him. That's Jesus. They will spit on him. They will flog him. They will kill him.

To the disciples, the Messiah proclaimed, A mustard seed-sized faith will allow you to move the Appalachian Mountains. To the blind man, in Luke 18, Jesus wonderfully spoke, Receive your sight, your faith. My faith can save you.

It's as if nothing could deter him from this holy mission to prepare a way for you and I. Jesus set his face so that God would shine his face upon us. And Luke says it this way, Luke 13, 22. The Son of God made his way to Jerusalem. Luke 18, 31. Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Luke 19, 28.

Jesus tells a parable in Luke 18. He says, now, here's a parable about the need to pray and not give up. Does that sound familiar? Paul says, I never give up praying for you.
