  Now, that can mean to turn back physically. That can mean come home. Or that can mean return from where you first departed. But this is the word that's used over and over, especially in the prophets, but in the Old Testament, much so for those who have drifted away. And that's not surprising because if you were here last week, you know in Jeremiah 2, the people have drifted. We're reminded that they are digging wells for themselves.

  Jeremiah 2 today. As we begin to turn our attention to Jeremiah, I want to see if you can figure out what these foods have in common. These foods have in common. First are potato chips. You can choose your flavor. Pepperoni pizza. Pepperoni pizza. Pepperoni pizza. Pretzels. French fries. Ramen. And bacon.

  This is why we gather, is it not? This is why that God has given us a spiritual thirst so that we will not have a dypsia where we can't thirst at all. A numb soul that no longer longs for God. If you want to jot some scripture verses down to go back and look them up, the nation of Israel, Psalms chapter 80, verse 19, Isaiah chapter 5, verses 1 through 7 give us that description, Jeremiah 2, verse 21, Ezekiel 19, verse 10.
