The scarlet cord, the crimson cord, was a visible reminder that could be seen by any spy many, many yards away. You couldn't miss it. The same sign is the reminder in Exodus chapter 12 of when the Israelites had to put a crimson blood on their door. And that the crimson sign on the door would bring life to all who were inside. It's the same sign of redemption. It's the same sign of repentance.
