Asking for a Friend

  Now, in the context of just a pagan world, that could be any writing. But in the context of the gathered church, the writing of this book is not any writing. So when we hear in 2 Timothy 3, that all of scripture is breathed out by God, there's a sacredness to the scriptura that we hold in our hands. So when we use the word scripture, we are saying the holy writing of a triune God.

  But what I do know is that the call to follow Jesus is a call to ultimately suffer in some way for the gospel. And you might say, oh, well, that's your opinion. You don't know that. Well, John 16, Jesus says you will have suffering in this world. 2 Timothy chapter 3, in fact, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer. 1 Peter 4, don't be surprised when suffering comes your way.
