Paul says this to Timothy, a young pastor, share in the suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ, which means there probably are bad soldiers. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in the concerns of civilian life. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian life. He is to please the creator and the recruiter.
