• 11:14Zechariah 9

  And we've seen throughout the entirety of Matthew's gospel that everything Jesus does is counter-cultural. That whatever the world expected of him, he would do the opposite. You see, despite his greatness, despite the significance of his coming, Zechariah 9, which is mentioned here, this is the prophecy that Jesus had a desire to fulfill, Zechariah tells us that he will come in this way. When he says, look, your king is coming to you.

  we are healed. And back to verse 10. Our question this morning. When he entered Jerusalem, the whole city is asking the question, who is this? Who is this Jesus? He is our humble king, but also he is our righteous king. Jesus is our righteous king. Back to Zechariah 9. Look, your king is coming to you. He is humble. He is victorious, but he is also righteous. Look at verse 12 in Matthew 21.

• 13:57Zechariah 9

  See, look, your king is coming to you gentle, mounted on a donkey and on a colt, the foal of a donkey. You see, this is the fulfillment of Isaiah 62, 11 and Zechariah 9, 9. So we ask, I ask, why did this, why is this prophecy fulfilled? Why would God's word take time to remind us, don't forget, this was spoken because that this prophecy might be fulfilled? Because God's word is reminding us that God is faithful and he is true.

  Why does something that was spoken 3,000 years ago, 2,500 years ago in Zechariah matter for me? Listen to this prophecy in Zechariah 9. If you ever want to have an excuse to be loud in church, shout. This is the joy of Christ. Shout in triumph. Daughter of Jerusalem, look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious.
