Yes, you need to be forgiven of your sins, but we have to be cleansed. And that comes because of the resurrection. Listen to what Romans 4 says. Not only because he lives, you are made new. Because he lives, you are made right. Paul says, he was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. One scholar says that this is the most comprehensive statement of the gospel in all of scripture.
