  Scripture actually is full of prophecies and desires of God's people crying out to the Lord, saying, oh, rejoice, rejoice, Emmanuel. Oh, come to us. Come with us. God, we need you. Psalm 23, for instance. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.

So you have the social stigma of the shepherd with the biblical view of the shepherd that is good and is pleasing. It is something that we should desire. And so I believe the shepherds are a riddle. Now, it's interesting. Socially, shepherds were outcasts and outsiders.
