He's a then master. Because this is what we see. In Matthew 3.17, there's a beautiful voice from heaven that says, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. Then, 4.1, without pause, the spirit of God leads the son of God into the wilderness. And as this is happening, as the Holy Spirit is leading Jesus by this divine then, guess who's lurking in the shadows?

Verse 3. To Jesus. If you are the son of God. Now, Satan does not deny that Jesus is actually the son of God. In fact, he knows that Jesus is the son of God. Look at verse 17 of Matthew 3. A voice comes from heaven and says, This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. So I don't know if Satan was at the Jordan River at that time. But I guarantee someone brought word back to Satan and said,

And Jesus says that the scriptures might be fulfilled. And so Jesus is baptized and there's a voice coming from heaven in Matthew 3 at the baptism. And the voice says this, this is my beloved son with whom I am well pleased. At his baptism, Jesus Christ is the son of God. Consider the temptation of Jesus Christ. Out of everything that Satan could have tempted Jesus with, Satan uses these words.
