Because what we're going to find in Luke 24 is on the very day of the resurrection, Jesus appears to two men walking on the road and they're discouraged.

  We are here for transformation so that Jesus would change our life yet again. This is the whole story. It is necessary. Join me in the reading of the Word of God. Luke 24, 5 through 8. And then we're going to look at verse 26. The gospel of Luke, chapter 24, reads this way. I'm going to begin in verse 5. You can join me in verse 6. So the women were terrified and they bowed down to the ground.

  The first beautiful question that every man has to ask and answer every woman is what's asked at the empty tomb. Luke 24, 5, the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground when they go to the tomb. And the angels asked this question. Why do you look for the living among the dead? This is a question of faith. It's a question of trust and acceptance. This is the so what of faith.

  At the cross, we see a glimpse. But at the empty tomb, we see glory. So let's take a moment to see the glory of the resurrection and what that means for your life and for my life. Luke 24, again, says, Why are you looking for the living among the dead? It's a good question. I think when you go to a cemetery, who do you look for?

  Luke 24 says, why are you, you silly humans? I think this is how the angels talk to us, by the way. You know, some of you think it's like, why are you looking for the living? I think it's more like this. Dude, why are you looking for the living among the dead? He is not here.

  I invite you to do what the women on resurrection morning did in Luke 24. On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away. Where do we go when we have nowhere else to turn? Go again to the empty tomb. And in so doing, you will find that God's salvation comes in the most unexpected places.

  You cannot short-circuit Salvation. We begin our Easter sermon on and with a particular lens in the Gospel of Luke. And Luke reminds us over and over again that he frames the story of Jesus Christ around Jerusalem. Luke 24, verse 47. Luke's very clear. Repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. Is there anyone here today that's thankful for the forgiveness of sins?

  Luke 24, they are leaving from Jerusalem because repentance of sins is proclaimed in Jerusalem. Luke 24, 13 describes what happens after the resurrection. Which is why we're here today, is it not? We are living after the resurrection. If you want to read that with me, open your Bibles to Luke 24, verse 13. This is happening on the very same day where the stone was rolled away.

  For instance, Luke 24, 47. Luke says this. And repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all nations beginning at Jerusalem. Beginning at Jerusalem and over and over again in the gospel of Luke, you will hear or see going up to Jerusalem, Jesus sent his face to Jerusalem. It's as if the gospel writer, the good doctor, wants us to focus our gaze at Jerusalem.
