  If the Bible is true, if you believe the Bible is true, that is what you believe. You must believe the gospel. Secondly, if the Bible is true, and again, we have enough evidence to believe it is by faith, then Jesus is the only way. You say, okay, well, show me that. Show me your work, pastor. I will. John 14.

  And then in John 14, John just gets right to the point in verse 14. John 1, 14. Talks about this incarnation. He says, right here in verse 14. He says, the word, that's Jesus. The word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only son from the father, full of grace and truth. Now look at verse 18. We're going to look at this also. No one has ever seen God.

  …and you say, well, I'm still confused. You've not helped me at all. You've actually made it more difficult to understand, is God personal? Well, if that's you, if you're still confused, you're not alone. Because in John 14, and let's turn there, the disciples have spent three years with Jesus Christ and they're still confused. So for the slow learners in our midst, you're not alone. John 14, 6 is a verse that you might know well.

  Jesus is the word of Jesus Christ. And so may we pray and then we will look at John 14 together this morning. John 14. Let me pray. Father, forgive us when we think you are merely a path. Forgive us when we think that Jesus is merely a way or faith in Christ is the same as faith in man. Faith in Allah. Faith in self.

  Even the humblest corner of glory is a place of delight. Where will you go when you die in Christ? I don't know where it will be, but it will be with him. So I'm not worried about the place. I am treasuring the person. This is his promise. And then lastly for today. Jesus promises his disciples in John 14, 2. He gives us one more glimpse of today's heaven.

  He gives us one more glimpse of today's heaven. Present heaven, if you will. He says, he says, boys, listen up. It's been a long three years and you've tried my patience. I've suffered long with you, as the King James would say. But he says this beautiful truth in John 14, 2. He says, in my father's house are many rooms. And I love that because what was Jesus' occupation? He was a carpenter.

  What Jesus tells us in John 14, 7, he said, if you know me, you know the Father. If you have given your life to Jesus Christ, if you have seen him in his glory by faith, you know the Father. So the first step to know the will of God is to know God himself. You will never know the will of God for your life if you are spiritually dead. and God desires that none perish but all have everlasting life.

  So by request, because you've asked it, today's message is entitled, Truth and Disinformation. Truth and Disinformation. If you have your Bibles with you, I hope you do. We're going to be looking at one verse today. One verse. John 14 verse 6. Truth and disinformation. Let's go to the Lord. Father, we thank you that we shepherd boys who are living a lie can find water for our parched souls.

  Now if these are the problems, and we know that what we say and the lies that we believe and the truth that we follow have eternal consequences. How do we live for Jesus Christ in the midst of this propaganda machine? Well, we have in John 14:6. It's more likely a verse you don't even have to open. Because Jesus answers Thomas, who's asked, when you leave, how will we know where you're going?

Solid Ground

  That's the context of what we're about to read in John 14, verse 1. Jesus says to Peter, you're about to deny me. Don't let your heart be troubled. What? Jesus is speaking into the deepest worry of Peter's heart. Believe in God. Believe also in me. In my father's house, there are many rooms. If not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again.

  So, in fact, the words of comfort uttered here in John 14 are in a moment of deep stress by Jesus Christ. So, if you're here and you say, well, I'm stressed to the max, you are not alone. Jesus himself went through difficult moments. So, let me remind you of this as we look at how God helps put us on the side of the ground. The presence of stress does not necessarily result from the lack of faith or disobedience.

  and it's certainly worth living for. So our belief in Christ should change the way that we live. Who can be a guest of the Lord is the one who hears the words of Jesus in John 14. If you love me, he says, you will keep my commands. And if you think that's burdensome, if you think those barriers are difficult, remember the words of the Messiah who says, take my yoke upon you,

  No one's ever seen God. Well, Jesus says this in John 14. He says this. If you know me, that's Jesus, then you know my father. And from now on, you do know him and you have seen him. For those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, Jesus says to you, you know God because you know me. Think about that. We can know God. And because we can know God, we can know his will.

  And I've watched other video-driven displays of the cross. And if that's you and you find it hard to talk about, you're not alone. Because the cross was a brutal instrument of execution.   The one who is the resurrection and the life. But there is more. Jesus says in John 14, this is in the midst of the final supper he will ever eat in his physical body. This is the same night that Jesus is about to be betrayed. This is the eve of his crucifixion. So the disciples can see the agitation in Jesus and they can tell he is upset and they can tell something is worrying him.

  …tell he is upset and they can tell something is worrying him. And so Jesus tells them, I am about to go to the Father. And they ask him simply, would Jesus show us the way? We want to go where you are. Jesus says in John 14, verse 6, Jesus says to them, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
