  Men throughout history have called, been called to wait. You think about Moses, when he is hid in the cleft of the rock. He's waiting on the glory of the Lord to pass by in Exodus 33. Balaam was told to go outside into a barren hill in Numbers 23 and wait on the Lord. Elijah, who went to the mountain, was called to wait on the Lord. What does this tell us about God's people?

  In Exodus 33, 18, God responded, I will take my hand away from you and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen. This is how glorious God is. Moses is looking at his back as he passes. And the scripture says that when Moses descended from Mount Sinai, he did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with God. Wow. Now, don't tell me Moses was grumpy.

  You see, those who believe in Jesus Christ, he now calls you friends. There were two men in Scripture that were called friends of God, Abraham and Moses. In the Old Testament, 2 Chronicles 20 for Abraham and Exodus 33, verse 10. But I want to remind us that although those men were called friends of God, God was never called a friend of theirs.
