    Micah

    • 28:48Acts 16:31

And Acts 16.31 just says simply, believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. And that very day, this man in his entire house trusted in Jesus Christ. You see, upside down living, inverted religion says act, love, and then follow. And Micah knows that. That's why he said it that way. But faith in the gospel says believe, repent, and then follow Jesus.

    • 13:25Acts 16

We have Timothy, my fellow co-worker. Timothy came to faith in Paul's second missionary journey in Acts 16 and followed Paul really for the rest of his missionary endeavors in the third missionary journey. We find Timothy as a co-author or a co-laborer in at least six of the New Testament books. And we find first and second Timothy are written to Timothy who is

God, if that means that I have to be uncomfortable and God means I have to do something that I don't want to do and I don't like. God, build my faith and display your glory. Let's read the text. Acts 16 beginning in verse 23. We're going to back up. And then jump into this passage of scripture. The sermon entitled A Midnight Deliverance. Acts 16 beginning in verse 23.

Acts 16 beginning in verse 23. And they severely flogged them. We ask who is them, Paul and Silas. They threw them in jail and ordering the jailer to guard them carefully. Receiving such an order, he put them in the inner prison and secured their feet in the stocks. About midnight. Isn't it beautiful how God does things at midnight in our lives?

Which tells me the gospel overcomes and breaks chains. And out of the 20 plus, maybe more churches that Paul planted in his life as a missionary, you can go back in Acts chapter 16 and read some of that. Out of all the churches, Philippians, more than any other church, this church at Philippi, Paul had a tremendous joy for this church. And it comes across in his letter, and he's encouraging them…

So it means I cannot work in the privacy of my own home where no one sees. Why? Because Paul says work out. So others should see the work of Christ in our life. And if you were here several weeks ago, remember who Paul is writing to in Acts 16. We have an inner glimpse to the people that God is writing to. Lydia, a rich, successful seller of purple clothes.

…new orders, new procedures, and new ways of life. And Paul's writing to the Philippian church. They would understand this. Some of them possibly would have fought in the military. Think about the Philippian jailer in Acts 16. And so what would happen in the army, those that knew the new king would stand firm in battle. They would stand firm when they would get the new orders. And their firmness, based on the new king, would be a reminder to…

So Satan, you can kill me and I get Jesus. Satan, you can let me live and I get Jesus. And think about who he's writing to. He is writing to a jailer, as we saw several weeks ago in Acts 16, that tried to kill him. And he's writing to a man that tried to take his own life because the jailer was supposed to keep Paul secure and could not. A jailer was going to take his own life and Paul stopped him. And…
