God doesn't give us the narcissist that we desire. He gives us the shepherd that will guide us. He doesn't give us the leader that will token meet our needs and wants. But he gives us the shepherd that will lead us to streams of water and paths of righteousness. It's a reminder in 1 Samuel 16 that man looks at the outside. Give us the genius. Give us the narcissist. Give us the performer.

or take your Holy Spirit from me I wonder if in David's mind he's thinking of 1 Samuel 16 verse 14 where David knew that the Lord had taken his spirit from Saul and given him a spirit of judgment you see David knew what it meant and what it looked like to not have the presence of God in your life and David said God do not banish me from your presence

He looks at the heart. So today's message is entitled Impeccable Eyesight. Impeccable Eyesight. So read with me 1 Samuel 16, beginning in verse 1. I'm going to read until verse 10. The Lord said to Samuel, now as we read this scripture, you're going to see or hear the word sight or vision often. There's again a theme that God wants us to see in his word.

In 1 Samuel 16 where he says, the Lord says to Samuel, don't look at Saul's appearance. Don't look at his stature because I have rejected him. So King Saul, who looked to fit the part. God is saying, though Saul looked to fit the part, he was found to be not trustworthy. So I am rejecting him and I am choosing David. In that same verse, God would say that humans don't see what the Lord sees.
